Holly Gunn MD FAAD

Dr. Holly Gunn is a highly respected board-certified dermatologist who provides comprehensive dermatology care for patients of all ages. She specializes in medical, surgical, cosmetic, and laser dermatology, offering a full range of services to address both common and complex skin concerns.

A Mobile, Alabama native, Dr. Gunn began her academic journey with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Maryland. She earned her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Gunn then moved to Pennsylvania, where she completed an internal medicine internship, a skin cancer prevention research fellowship, and a dermatology residency at Penn State University Hershey Medical Center. During this time, she also earned a Master's in Public Health Sciences. Her four beautiful daughters were born while the family lived in Hershey, PA.

Dr. Gunn has served as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and was the Director of the UAB Dermatology Cosmetic and Laser Clinic.

Today, she is the proud owner of Gunn Dermatology, with two thriving locations in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Dr. Gunn remains committed to providing exceptional dermatologic care and continually advancing her field through ongoing education, innovative technology and patient care excellence.

James Libecco, MD FAAD

Dr. Libecco has over 20 years of experience treating all types skin conditions and performing cosmetic treatments at the expert level.

Dr. Libecco’s educational background includes a degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University, where he graduated in the top five percent of his class. An internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology were completed at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as chief resident. He joined the Cleveland Clinic staff after residency as Director of the Psoriasis, Phototherapy, and Cutaneous Care Center, and Director of the Clinical Research Center. After moving into Private Practice, Dr. Libecco continues to focus on research of inflammatory skin conditions and innovative treatments for skin cancer.

Amy Albert, MD FAAP

Dr. Amy Albert is a board-certified pediatrician with 19 years of expertise in primary care pediatrics and over 6 years of experience in cosmetic injections.

She earned her B.S. in Biology cum laude from Washington and Lee University in 1997 and her Doctorate in Medicine in 2001 from West Virginia University, where she was inducted into the competitive Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She then married her medical school sweetheart, Michael, and moved to Birmingham. Dr. Albert completed her pediatric training at Children's of Alabama in 2004. In her thriving pediatrics practice, she continually honed her procedural skills by suturing facial lacerations and performing skin biopsies and newborn circumcisions while cultivating a strong passion for dermatology. Dr. Albert's dedication extends to her personal life, where she enjoys family time with her husband and three sons, as well as engaging in travel planning, reading, alpine skiing, and fly fishing.

Mariah Melton

Physician Assistant

Mariah was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She studied biology, chemistry, and microbiology at the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!), and completed Physician Assistant School at Oklahoma City University. Upon graduation, Mariah sought further education with a residency in Emergency and Trauma Medicine, which she continued to pursue as a career. Mariah and her husband, Kole, moved to Birmingham last year for her husband’s residency in Radiation Oncology at UAB. Then, she discovered her love for all things Dermatology and Cosmetics. Under the guidance of Dr. Gunn, Mariah has continued to perfect her skills and knowledge in skin health. Mariah provides medical care in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of varying skin diseases, as well as cosmetic skincare and procedures. She has enjoyed building relationships with her Gunn Derm family—patients and the “Gunn Girls”.

The Aeglé Fund

The Aeglé Fund is our non-profit where we treat people with scars that can’t otherwise afford it. We have so many amazing treatments for scars and insurance does not always cover them so this fund is something we are very passionate about, especially for people that have experienced great trauma like a car accident or natural disaster.
