About Iconic Ablative Resurfacing

Is used to treat scars, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and other signs of sun damage, aging or trauma. The treatment removes old skin at a precise depth to remove imperfections and drastically improve wrinkles.  Patient typically have one week of downtime and reverse age for one year leading to skin that can look five to ten years younger.

Dr. Gunn has been using ablative resurfacing for those concerned about wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and irregular skin texture for over 15 years. We can treat all these without the downtime associated with traditional full field resurfacing which is 3-4 weeks. Our downtime is typically 1-2 weeks.

how it works

The Icon Fractional Resurfacing at Gunn Dermatology  is a fully customizable treatment that is created especially for you. Our laser splits into micro-beams creating a fractionated pattern leading to pigment and wrinkle reduction. This fractionated technique promotes faster healing and improves collagen stimulation.  It has also been studied to reduce the incidence of skin cancers and precancers.

Other examples of fractional skin resurfacing are the Fraxel™, the Pearl, the Pixel and the Sciton®.  BBL is a milder treatment example of ablative and non-ablative resurfacing and is included in all aggressive resurfacing packages.

OPTIONAL ADD ON: Liquid Blepharoplasty Non-Surgical Eyelid Tightening with Skin Removal

Liquid blepharoplasty is an advanced, minimally invasive eyelid rejuvenation treatment designed to tighten and refresh the upper or lower eyelids without traditional surgery or stitches. A specialized liquid treatment is used to safely contract and tighten the skin while sealing the area naturally. When needed, small amounts of excess eyelid skin are gently removed using a precise snip technique.

This method offers results similar to surgical blepharoplasty for appropriate candidates—without sutures and without long surgical scars. Healing occurs as the skin tightens and renews itself.

Why Patients Choose Liquid Blepharoplasty

    •    Surgical-like eyelid rejuvenation without traditional surgery

    •    No stitches and no long incisions

    •    Natural-looking tightening and contouring

    •    Performed in-office

Healing & Downtime

Patients should expect about two weeks of healing, during which the treated area will form protective crusts. This is a normal part of the process and should not be picked or disturbed. As healing completes, the crusting falls away, revealing smoother, rejuvenated eyelid skin.

Liquid blepharoplasty is ideal for patients seeking noticeable eyelid improvement with less invasiveness than traditional surgery, while accepting short-term downtime.

Benefits:

  • Safe for most skin types

  • The downtime is relative to your skin concerns (ranges from mild to moderate)

  • Can address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, brown spots & skin crepiness

  • Skin resurfacing results without surgery or chemicals

  • 60 minute treatment time. 3 hours in the clinic.

  • Dependent upon your skin concern and desired outcome. The average client repeats the treatment every year for optimal results.

  • A post treatment cream and skin care plan will be suggested for you to use for at least 7 days after the the treatment.  Most patients do not plan outside activities for 7 days but normal clean indoor activities can be performed.

  • How much downtime will I have with Iconic Ablative Resurfacing?

After a discussion with our team we will determine the best energy level to treat your concerns while bearing in mind your social calendar. We can either build a treatment plan that is slow and steady with minimal downtime (a little redness for a day) all the way up to a deep resurfacing whenever you have that extra time to spare. With aggressive treament, you will have approximately 2-3 days of redness that resembles a sunburn. Cold vinegar compresses can be applied for comfort and Tylenol every 4 hours is acceptable if needed. After 36 hours the redness will start to subside and the abnormal cells will gradually peel and slough off. A light exfoliation can be done on day 6-7 to smooth off the peeling skin.

Can I have this treatment on my chest?

Absolutely! Often clients forget all about their neck chest and as their face ages beautifully the décolletage age as well, and sometimes much faster if we forget our sunscreen.

I have a few acne spots, can you spot treat?

We rarely spot treat our clients with this type of treatment. If you have a few acne scars on your face we can pretty much guarantee you also have a few large pores and textural imperfections that can benefit from the treatment. We also don’t want to improve just one part of your face! We aim for an even texture and tone the entire face. There are other treatments for spot treatment of acne scars.

pricing:

  • Full Face or Décolletage $3200

  • Hands or Eyes $1000

  • Add On: Liquid Blepharoplasty $600
